School of Rock – Day 11 – Collaboration and Growth – Part 1

SUMMARY

We worked on our rooms as usual, then some national guard people came that were really good at drums and we got to learn from them.

LEADERSHIP ACTIVITY

  • Me and Nayel worked on our song, we found that when singing the vocals they took way more tries than we initially thought.

PRACTICE ROOM (GUITAR LESSONS)

Nayel and I worked on our song we tried to match our vocals to guitar which was the main melody in our song.

CLASSROOM (THEORY & ANALYSIS)

  • I learned that power chords are not even chords because they have to have at least 3 note but power chords are a route note with a filth over it. Power chords are very useful in rock and metal music.

LAB (THEORY PRACTICED)

Nayel practiced theory with our song by synchronizing notes on a keyboard with vocals and using Logic pro x’s flex pitch. This really helped me know more about how to correct vocals with pitch correction.

OUTSIDE (CREATIVITY & THE BRAIN)

I thought a lot about non cognitive stuff from the podcast, and it made me realize how some people are smart there just not using there smarts right and grades really don’t count for smartness a lot of the time.

STUDIO (SONGWRITING)

  • Our work revolved around song writing and lyrics today.

CONTROL ROOM (RECORDING & MIXING)

  • In the later part of the day we worked on mixing our vocals for our final draft of our song with touch ups and effects.

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

  • I learned that making songs is frustrating and fun at the same time. I learned that to make something good you have to put a lot of work into it and try your best.
